Greenland Ice Cap Is Melting Faster Than Forecast

prophets pen poems of doom
of unimaginable catastrophe
intone a chant of downfall
— an iceberg thawing

— the deluge is near —

blinded by shiny objects
we don’t heed the signs
cavorting with our favorite toys
we carouse in endless bacchanals

all the while
oceans weep
frozen tears melt
into the deep

— the deluge is here —
